Study Visit of Serbia's Border Police Directorate to Croatia

From October 28 to 31, 2024, six representatives of the Border Police Directorate of the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs visited Croatia as part of a study visit aimed at enhancing cooperation and exchanging experiences in integrated border management.

The visit began with a tour of the Bajakovo Border Crossing, followed by a visit to the Border Police Training Center in Spačva. On the second day, the delegation visited the Police Directorate in Zagreb, where a series of presentations were organized on topics including integrated border management, risk analysis, and the organizational structure of Croatia’s border police. The Serbian representatives also toured the National Coordination Center (NCC), where they learned about its technical specifications, organizational framework, and the EUROSUR system for border surveillance. The day concluded with a visit to the Department for Information and Communication Systems.

The third day focused on international cooperation, including collaboration with Frontex, project development, and police training. The delegation also visited facilities in Bregana designed for advanced training of customs and police officers involved in integrated border management.

On the final day, the delegation visited the Karlovac Police Administration, where they were introduced to the operations of the PGP Cetingrad, Local and Regional Coordination Centers (LCC and RCC), and the use of technical equipment for border protection. The visit concluded with a tour of the former Željava airbase, where Serbian representatives observed aerial border surveillance systems and the work of mobile units for state border monitoring.

"This study visit offered us a valuable opportunity to learn about modern techniques and practices in border management and to exchange experiences with our colleagues from Croatia", said one of the participants. "The knowledge and insights gained will significantly enhance our work and strengthen regional cooperation".

The visit was organized as part of the "EU Support for Efficient Border Management" project, funded by the European Union.
